Seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter

Do you ever wonder what causes the different weather patterns during various times of the year? And why does it sometimes feel like summertime warmth with sunshine, and at other times feel like the winter season with cold and snowy conditions? This variation in weather is due to seasonal changes. There are four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each one has its own unique beauty and charm, so let’s take a closer look!

1. Spring: The Season of New Beginnings 🌸

Spring represents everything in nature waking up again, everything alive again. Snow melts, flowers bloom, and trees get their new leaves. Of course, the animals are back to enjoy nature and play outside.

2. Summer (Sunny Fun)

Summer is all about fun in the sun! It is the warmest season of the year, and during this time, most students are off from school, so they have lots of opportunities to play. You can swim, eat ice cream, or stay outside late to watch the stars.

3. Autumn (Colorful Season)

Autumn (fall) is a season of changing colors. The leaves on many trees will be changing from green to red, orange, and yellow. This is a time when farmers harvest many of the food products they produce: apples, pumpkins, corn, etc. During this time of year, cooler temperatures usually make you wear sweaters for warmth.

4. Winter (Snowy Season)

Winter is the coldest season, and in many places it is the time of year when we get to have fun playing in the snow! Some activities include building snowmen, sledding, and having a snowball fight. When you want to warm up after playing in the cold, drink hot chocolate! Snuggle under blankets during the winter!

Months of the Year

January
January has a cold start, just like snow covering everything in a blanket. This month is the best time of year to make snowmen, drink hot chocolate, and ring in the New Year. Even though January may be very cold, it is also a time for new possibilities.

February
February is when Valentine’s Day and Groundhog Day happen; therefore, it is also the month of love and hearts! Groundhog Day is a tradition where a little groundhog makes a prediction about whether or not winter will continue. It is the shortest month of the year, but there are many fun things to do during February.

March
March is known for its transitional weather. In March, winds can blow the snow away, and the temperatures can get warm enough for flowers to start blooming. March has St. Patrick’s Day, when everything turns green, and on March 20, spring begins!

April
April is when spring really begins to show its true colors; it is raining April showers that produce May flowers! This month is all about the rainbows, umbrellas, Easter egg hunts, and playing outdoors while splashing around in puddles!

May
May is the month of birthday celebrations; May is full of color and flowers everywhere! The month begins with Mother’s Day, which allows everyone to express their love for their mothers. The temperatures outdoors are warm, but not too warm, so it makes playing outside comfortable!

June
June marks the end of school and the beginning of sunny weather, ice cream days and beach trips as well as Father’s Day – celebrate the fathers!

July
It’s the time of year to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, parades and barbecues. July is also the hottest month of summer, so remember your sunscreen as you make the most of all your summer activities; swimming and staying cool in your local pool.

August
It’s the last chance to enjoy the summer before the kids go back to school. August is the month for camping and hiking and for many families to take the last family vacation of the summer. But don’t forget that there is still plenty of sunshine to enjoy before school begins again.

September
September marks the beginning of fall and a new school year; it is also the month that celebrates Labor Day. So grab your backpack! September is also the month for new beginnings.

October
October is a spooky month, with Halloween as its focus; it will be full of costumes, trick-or-treating, and pumpkin carving. The leaves are turning orange and red, making this the perfect time of year for hayrides and apple picking.

November
As the weather turns cold and Thanksgiving approaches in November, we find ourselves gathering with family, eating great food and expressing our gratitude for our many blessings in Life; even if it is something as simple as a mug of hot cocoa on a cool evening, we are grateful for what we have. During this same period of increased love for our family, there is also an increase in demand for warm clothing as people look forward to spending more time indoors, seeking the comfort and safety of being at home.

December
The final month of the year can be viewed as “magical” because all of the major holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, fall during this month. The weather turns cold and snowy, lights sparkle in the night sky, and everyone is happy to have such wonderful times to share with others.
